Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP)

Film programmes are organized by DFF, as part of a larger programme for cultural exchange, arising out of bilateral agreements between the governments of India and a foreign country.  These film programmes take place in two or three major cities of both countries, sometimes attended by a delegation from the country whose films are being shown.

Under the agreements, all local expenses are borne by the local government, while international travel and the transport of film prints are the responsibility of the foreign government.  Usually, around six such programmes, featuring outstanding Indian films, are organised annually abroad, while another six film events take place in India, where major films of different countries are screened.
